Showers of Blessings

At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.

Hello ECA family,

If you put those umbrellas away for the month, I bet you had to get them back out this weekend. Our community is blessed with rainy, wet weekends in the spring, but the reward is the beautiful valley flowers and promise of summertime fun with family and friends. Here is a favorite hymn sung by many churches in the spring:

There shall be showers of blessing:
  This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
  Sent from the Savior above.

Showers of blessing,
  Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
    But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessing—
  Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
  Sound of abundance of rain.

There shall be showers of blessing;
  Send them upon us, O Lord!
Grant to us now a refreshing;
  Come, and now honor Thy Word.

There shall be showers of blessing;
  O that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
  Now as on Jesus we call!

There shall be showers of blessing,
  If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
  If we let God have His way.

In Oregon, we have a high school boarding academy called Milo Academy. It is one of several boarding academies in the United States and Canada. Fountainview Academy, in Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada, has a music program that travels internationally sharing God’s love through their music program. Imagine an orchestra and choir singing in beautiful British Columbia surrounded by waterfalls and you can imagine what this Youtube link will share with you:

Spring Emerald Expo / Dinner Invitation

On Thursday, May 9, ECA will have their evening Emerald Expo. This Thursday evening program will highlight student work from throughout the year. Classrooms will be open and student projects will be on display. There will be a dinner provided for families by our school kitchen staff. The meal will have a choice of entrees (fettuccini alfredo or spaghetti), salad, breadsticks, cookie, and juice. This dinner invitation is for all families. Our hope is you can come and spend time with friends, have a great meal, and share in the excitement of student learning. Dinner will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. The classrooms will be open at 7:00.

We are suggesting a $6 donation per meal to help us raise funds for our music room / Bible room remodel. Our desire is to have a school function where everyone feels welcome, so please consider this an open invitation. There will be a collection jar for donations at the kitchen if you would like to help us with our remodel plans. If you would like to make a donation online and have it charged to your school visa account, just click on the link below to be taken to a site similar to our hot lunch order screen.

Many of you remember our STEAM room before and after our Christmas remodel. We have a similar vision for a summer project for our two rooms upstairs. Donations made during this evening will help us. To go along with our Spring Emerald Expo, we will be having a book fair in the school library. Books will be on display in the library and available for immediate purchase. Special thanks to our Home & School leaders and volunteers for helping this happen. The library will be open for purchasing books after school all week and during our Thursday evening program. Money raised by Home & school will go to the Worthy Student Fund.

Spring Music Program Date Change

Originally, our Spring music program was scheduled for the last week of May. We are needing to change that day to Tuesday, June 4.

1/2 Day Friday Chapel & AfterSchool

This Friday we will be having our May 1/2 Day Friday with chapel and big brother/sister program. School will dismiss at 12:30. There WILL BE afterschool until 2:30 by Mr. Wyatt Johnston & the AG program.

Something New on 1/2 Day Fridays

Our Home & School is exploring a new option for parents for 1/2 day Friday pickups when they provide hot lunch for students. This Friday, May 10, Home & School will be selling additional slices of pizza for parents or family members that are picking up their children. They are also selling ice cream treats. These things can be picked up at the exit gate. These things do need to be preordered so we have enough supplies for ordering families. If this is something you would like to order, we ask that you go to the hot lunch order link. There is an additional area for ordering extra slices / ice cream treats for gate pickup.

Kindergarten after-school visitation Day coming this May 15

The kindergarten classroom will be having an afternoon visitation day from 4:00 to 6:00 for families who would like to learn more about ECA’s kindergarten program for next year. It is also a chance to visit the classroom and meet the teacher. Children are encouraged to come along and meet our kindergarten teacher. If you have friends or family in the area who have children who are kindergarten age for next year, we encourage you to share this information.

ECA Annual Constituency Meeting

Every May, ECA holds an annual constituency meeting for church members that support our school. Our school operates under a church-appointed school board and works with our local state OR Conference of SDA. This meeting will share our plans for staffing, budget, and school calendar for the upcoming year. Our school board makes recommendations for the upcoming year. Constituents can vote for approval at this meeting. Visitors are also welcome to come. As part of our school family, parents are welcome to come to this meeting as non-voting visitors.

Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.

We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.

These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.

In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
