The Power of Prayer

Principal’s Message:

Hello ECA families,

It’s time for a trivia question. How many miracles are recorded in the Bible? I suppose one could read through the pages and check off the miracles one-by-one. There are the biggies of course: creation week, global flood, Egyptian plagues, miracles of deliverance, and miracles of healing. Jesus overcoming death and promising that same miracle for believers is a foundation of our Christian faith.

Ok, question number two. How many miracles have been witnessed by having a faith in the power of prayer and God’s amazing love for us all? Suddenly, the answer is not quite so easy to answer.

Given the headlines and news reporting in the past week, more than anything we need to remember the power of prayer. As a school family, I invite you to remember families near and far away. Decisions and uncertainty that seem out of our control are not forgotten by our Lord. Let’s remind our students that during these difficult times, we can find strength in how God has led us in the past.

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.” - Psalm 77:11

“We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget how God has led us.” - Ellen White

ASB Winter Banquet

Students in grades 5-8 celebrated together last week in our annual Winter Banquet. The theme was Little Italy. Students enjoyed a fun evening together and appreciated the talents of a local caricature artist. Thank you Home & School, parent volunteers, Pleasant Hill SDA Church, and ASB leadership for making this a fun night for all. Scroll down for a few pictures.

Covid Policies in the News

After a school year and winter of Covid restrictions, we can almost see a light at the end of the tunnel. I know there has been a lot of news about masking requirements in Oregon after March 19. As we get closer to that date, our school will work with our local health care professionals on our ECA Covid Committee to make a an updated policy. This updated policy will be presented to our school board in March for approval and will then be shared with families. Thank you for continuing to support school and community health.

Sharing Our School With Our Community

ECA will be having a virtual visitation day in late March or early April. We are proud of our school family and excited to share the good news about our school and how we can serve families in our community. You can help us spread that message by posting school activities and events your child is involved in. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and other resources are all ways we can share the good things that are happening at our school.

In the coming weeks, we will be sending out an online survey that will help us make plans for school growth next year. Thank you for giving us feedback on how things are going well, and how we can continue to grow.

"Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference." - Max Lucado
