On Your Marks, Get Set…
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
Hello ECA family,
I wouldn’t say I have always been in love with running, but I have fond memories of different races I have been in. Whether it was a long 10K, longer half-marathon, or the occasional short sprints and relay races I always loved crossing the finish line. As we start the last four weeks of school, the finish line may be a ways off, but there is still a lot of running that we all need to do. At times, there will be some uphill ascents, and still later, some downhill bursts. Let’s all keep focused on finishing strong!
The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. - Proverbs 18:10

Parents of Students in Grades 5-8 / Music Sabbath Performance June 1
We are so blessed to be supported by six constituent churches in our community. Throughout the year, we try to support our community and the churches in different ways. One way that happens is with children sharing music. On Saturday, June 1, the students in grades 5-8 will help put on the church program at the Springfield SDA Church. Students in grades 5-6 will be performing two songs. Students in grades 7-8 will be performing two songs. There are a few other ways we will get students involved with the program.
What do you need to know? Plan on supporting one of our local churches by having your child attend this service and join their classmates. The church service in the main sanctuary usually begins at 11:00. Students should plan to arrive at 10:30.
What should you wear? Plan on clothes similar to our Christmas program.
Why should my child attend? For our school, this is an opportunity to say thank you to the church members who support our school in so many ways. Our area churches help our school budget by supplementing over $140,000. That keeps tuition costs down for you. It is also a great way to put our mission statement into practice: At ECA, our hope is that students love God, Value learning, and Serve Others! This will also give the students a little extra practice before our scheduled Spring Music Progam at the ECA gym on Tuesday, June 4.

ECA Annual Spring Track & Field Day - This Wednesday
ECA has an annual Track & Field Day every year in the late spring. This year, we will be having this event on Wednesday, May 22. Students will go through different activities at school with their classes in the afternoon from 1:00 - 5:30. Parents are invited to come at any time during this afternoon event to watch their children in the different events: 50 m, 100 m, 400 meter relay, running long jump, discuss throw, high jump, obstacle course, softball throw, and mini-javelin throw.
Classes go through different activities as a group and it takes most of the afternoon. Plan on arriving a little before pickup or a little after to cheer your child and their classmates on. Events are timed and recorded. Ribbons are given out at the final awards chapel of the year. Kindergarten ribbons are given at on Kindergarten Recognition Day.
ECA Annual Constituency Meeting - This Thursday
Every May, ECA holds an annual constituency meeting for church members that support our school. Our school operates under a church-appointed school board and works with our local state OR Conference of SDA. This meeting will share our plans for staffing, budget, and school calendar for the upcoming year. Our school board makes recommendations for the upcoming year. Constituents can vote for approval at this meeting. Visitors are also welcome to come. As part of our school family, parents are welcome to come to this meeting as non-voting visitors. This meeting will be on Thursday, May 23 at the ECA Gym. The program will begin at 7:00 pm..
ECA AR Reading Program
As we enter into the final home stretch of school for the year, we are also winding on down days left to read for AR points. We have until the end of the month to get AR points. Just like ribbons are given out for Track & Field Events, reading trophies are given out for students who reach their classroom reading goals. The top reader in the school is recognized by having their name on our school reading plaque. We will be having an AR party for students who met their goal at the end of the month. More information to come!

Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:
The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
