Fall Colors in the Willamette Valley

ECA is blessed with four distinct seasons throughout the year. If I were to ask about a favorite, I’d get a variety of replies. For me, I have always enjoyed the crisp evenings and refreshing return of rain showers. Fall harvest is a favorite theme too. As fall colors change, we are reminded of God’s incredible cycles that are built into the Pacific Northwest region. The magazine Scientific American has a fun activity you can do with your family at home that explores why leaves have different colors.

I’m so glad God brings change into our lives. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” - 2 Corinthians 4:16

Hot Lunch Program

You can now order lunches for each week by going to our school website. Hot lunch can be found under the Student Life dropdown. You can also click on the box below to go straight to the page. The November menu is up for the month.

Please place all orders for each week before Monday morning at 8:45. After two weeks of tweaking how the hot lunch program is going, we are simplifying the order process to just a Monday meal, Wednesday meal, and 1/2 Day Friday Meal. The salad bar is still a big part of our hot lunch program, but it is more of a side salad component.

  1. Simply type your child’s first & last name

  2. Select the option that fits the order for the week

  3. Click Submit.

Prices for meals:

students in grades K-2 - $5,

students in grades 3-8 - $6.

Just a reminder… our hot lunch menu is posted on our website:

AG Program - Monday’s Science Class

This year, every student will be able to participate in ECA’s Agriculture Program. This happens on the first day of each week. Students will be outdoors doing a variety of things with Mr. Wyatt Johnson. Throughout the year, there may be a few rainy days. Boots and gloves are great things for working outdoors on Monday Science Days. Water bottles are great things to have outside too. Students are in class with Mr. Wyatt from 1:15-3:15. Here is a schedule of the days and classes:

Monday, November 13 - Grades 5&6

Monday, November 20 - Grades 3&4

Monday, November 27 - Grades K-2

Hult Center Musical Field Trip for Grades 3-6

Grades 3-6 Music Field Trip to the Hult Center

Students in grades 3-6 will be going to the Hult Center on Tuesday, November 14. Parking is very limited, so we will be taking the bus for this mid-day field trip. Students should wear their ECA school shirt if they have them. If you have not yet purchased an ECA shirt, you can call the office to arrange a purchase. Shirt sales support our Worthy Student Program. There is no additional charge for this music program. All seats have been prepaid, so unfortunately, we are not able to bring parents along. Mrs. Harness, Mr. Gaylor, and Mrs. Vojtko will be sponsors for the trip. Students will be leaving school at 11:30 on Tuesday and returning a little after 2:00.

See’s Candy Fundraiser

The holiday season is coming upon us. If you would like to order a few extra sweets for upcoming family gatherings, our school is sponsoring a fundraiser. Last week, your child brought home an order envelope and explanation letter. These can be filled out and returned to the office. You may also order online (link below) and receive your order in the mail, which works especially well for friends or family who are not local. The online shop does have more options, so if you don't see what you're looking for, make sure to check it out! Please complete your orders and return (if applicable) by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27. This fundraiser is supporting our Worthy Student Fund and playground updates, so thank you in advance for your contributions!

Thanksgiving Vacation Will Begin Next Week on 1/2 Day Wednesday

Thanksgiving vacation will begin at 12:30 on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. There will be no after school on that day.

Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.

We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.

These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.

In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
