Engage With Jesus
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
Bible Camp 2024 Brings Jesus into Focus for Our School
It feels so good to be excited about Jesus. Starting the year off with a program to help our school’s students’ leaders (the middle school students) experience Jesus and really engage is a passion we want to share with our whole school family. This year’s Bible Camp focus was on really engaging with Jesus. We explored several ways life presents challenges that can block God’s goal to have community and family with us. Our students came away with life-changing ways to make God real every day. 2024 Bible Camp Highlights will be posted to the Oregon Conference Youth Ministries Youtube page. Until then, here is a link to last year’s Bible Camp Highlights video. Special thank you to Deseray and Brook for being our parent volunteers to help with meals and food preparation. Without you both, this would not have been possible. Thank you to Ms. Lidia, the OR Conference Youth Department, and our wonderful, supportive families and students in grades 7&8!
For our ECA family, we have a Week-of-Prayer coming up in November. We can’t wait to share Jesus with all of the students in our school during this special week. Keep reading future newsletters for more information!
Back-to-School Night Last Tuesday - Do We Have Your Paperwork?
Last week during our Back-to-School Night we shared “registration update paperwork” to all of our families. We really need this completed paperwork to keep your children safe and to serve your families in the safest ways possible. If you have not returned the paperwork from last week, please send it this week. We do understand that there were some families that were unable to attend. If you did not receive any paperwork to update your medical information, pickup lists, school agreements, and a few other items, please call the school office so we can send paperwork home with your child.
Fun for Students in Grades K-4 too!
Last week we had our annual ECA school handshake. Students in grades K-4 met their “big brothers & sisters” they will be having for the year. Additionally, last Friday, we had our first 1/2 day Friday. A big shout out to Pastor Lutz, the pastor from our Springfield SDA Church who filled in for chapel with grades K-6. Throughout the year, our local pastors will connect with our students. Our next chapel will be in October. We are especially looking forward to our first Home & School function with our ECA Fall Festival on Sunday, October 6. This is a special time for all of our students, but also a great reminder to our younger students how good a school family feels!
A Friday Field Trip for 5th-8th Grade Students this Friday, September 20.
On Friday, September 20, students in grades 5-8 will be taking their first ASB trip to the Oregon coast. We will be taking a school bus and spending the day in Florence and at Honeyman State Park. As parents, you are able to join us, but a background check is necessary if you would like to ride the bus and volunteer. If you are planning on going as a parent and have not completed a background check, you will need to drive your own vehicle. We try to plan field trips for some of the “extra” Fridays so we can keep our core M-Th school days in place. What to know for this Friday:
Arrive at school: 8:00
Leave for the coast by bus: 8:20
Leave from the coast: 2:30
Return to school: 5:00
What to bring: Be sure to check the weather to stay up to date on Florence’s weather forecast for the day. Students can bring money for shopping or treats in Old Town Florence. Students should plan on packing a lunch that does NOT have microwavable items. We will be eating at Honeyman State Park before we head to play on the dunes and splash in the water. Students should plan on getting wet. One-piece suits, towels, sunscreen, flip-flops. These are all things that will make our time at Honeyman State Park fun!

Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:
The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
