RoadRunner Review: First Week
Principal’s Note
We are slowly starting to settle here into a routine and the first week jitters have started dissipating.
We enjoyed having our "Grands" visiting our learners today. Grandpas/Grandmas/VIPs that hold a dear place in our learners' lives filled our classrooms and halls! We feel very grateful for the support we get here at ECA from parents, relatives, friends, neighbors, and church members.
These kids get to see the community members that love them regularly and it is a wonderful physical reminder that education does not end at the front doors but spills over into the interactions we have with our loved ones on a regular basis. I asked the learners at chapel today to take the time to ask the important people in their life to tell them a story. I hope I am filled to the brim on Monday with all kind of stories!
I hope I get to see most of you at Back to School Night on September 12 and I ask that if you have any questions that you would like to see addressed at BTS Night please feel free to email me at: principal@emeraldchristianacademy.com
One last thing, we take seriously our role in keeping your child safe. In that vein we regularly keep up with information from the state or other entities that provide us with helpful information in our role as educators. YOU, as parents and family members, are an essential part of keeping these kids safe. The OR SDA conference has provided information that the staff at ECA is required to watch. This is not a requirement, but it is an opportunity to keep yourself informed. Your email should include this newsletter and a PDF of the SafeSchools training site.

Announcements
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
We hope you will be able to join us for BTS Night. We will start in the Gym at 6:45 with some introductions and ALL school announcements. At 7:00 pm and again 7:30 pm you will be able to visit your child's teacher and gain some insight into their classroom and teaching philosophy. (Two presentations are provided for families with multiple classrooms to visit or those unable to make the first time.)
***We will be providing you with a school calendar, student handbook, and info on trips etc.***
PICK-UP
If you need to change your regular transportation plan for the day, you must call the office no later than 1 pm so we have ample time to communicate with your child's teacher and the bus driver (Mrs. Collman or Mr. Gaylor)
From Miss Hewlett’s Desk
Volunteer background checks must be completed and mailed to the Oregon conference office ASAP! This is necessary for field trips, class visits, etc.
Students are expected to be in their classroom by 8:10 am. Students arriving at 8:10 or after must stop by the office to grab a Tardy Slip.
