Joy!

Principal’s Message:

Joy is vital to our lives. It contributes to reducing our stressors, which in turn contributes to healthier mental, physical and academic outlooks. There have been times in my life where joy has been a constant companion, a non-mystery and there have been other times where joy is elusive and mysterious and I just cannot figure out how to find it. Many of us have experienced elusive joy during Covid and it has taken real effort and patience to carve out time to make space for joy and hope it shows up!

Our students, families, staff have found themselves feeling discouraged with all the cancelled events, traditions, and moments of connection that foster joy on our campus that we just cannot swing during Covid. However, over and over again I have been so amazed at the ways so many of you have kicked it into gear and created experiences for our students, for our staff, and for our families that protect joy as an integral part of who we are as a community. Thank you to our Home and School volunteers, our classroom parents, and our churches.

This coming weekend on Sunday, April 25 we have an opportunity to come together as a school family and celebrate what ECA has been in this community and what ECA will continue to be for this community. Don’t miss what Rita Fisher, our Auction Coordinator and her volunteers are planning! Please join us at the Pleasant Hill SDA Church or the Springfield SDA Church at 1:30 pm. If you are unable to do that, please jump online at 1:30 when we open the website and watch what we are doing at ECA. Send our website to your family members, church members, ECA alumni and friends of ECA. ALL the support we can get helps. No amount is too small, no amount is too big!

I truly believe that if we are faithful in providing a place of safety, joy, play, curiosity, empathy we will reap the benefits of honoring what God has called us to honor.

Check out what Mrs. Thorp’s Homeroom is doing:

People are awesome!

We can do all sorts of things. We can run races, climb mountains, create amazing and beautiful and useful things.

But the greatest human accomplishments are  achieved through teamwork.

The 5th/6th class has taken on a challenge, not to compete with each other, but to work together to reach an incredible goal.

By the end of the school year, our goal is to write 25,000 lines of code through the coding website code.org.

Alone, this task would be enormous. It’s not exactly easy as a group either, but it is possible.

Watch our progress through the rest of the school year to see if we make it!

Thank you to our sponsors for providing our students with healthy snacks to go!!
