Thankfulness

At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.

June 4, 2023

In April, I introduced six values that ECA believes is an integral part of our school life. Today, we look at Thankfulness

Thankfulness - We value the importance of gratitude and cooperation in our interactions with teachers, parents, peers, and school family. We strive to forge strong, positive connections with the people that surround us as we serve our community.

As I type this newsletter, I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by. We are entering our last week of the school year. Yearbooks went out last week. There are always so many flashbacks and memories as we reminisce through the pages of our school Centurion. The names and faces that built the pages of the yearbook are a small part of our ECA school community. To the parents and families that have supported our school and Christian education, we value the relationships that have been fostered this year. To the students that have worked and grown this year, our hope is that Jesus was seen in every classroom and during every day. As we get ready to turn the page on this school year, and look to our future, my prayer is our hearts will be filled with thankfulness for God’s desire to be with us and his continued perseverance to seek us out just as a shepherd seeks his sheep.

“For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.” - Ezekiel 34:11-12

VISION & MISSION STATEMENTS

AG Program

Even though this is our last week of school, it is not the end of the AG program. There will be AG this week and there will be an after-school AG program this Friday for those that are planning on staying later than 12:30. This week, Mr. Wyatt and ECA will make plans for an AG program during the summer months at ECA. Look for more information in our final 2023 newsletter, next Sunday!

AG Program Summer Workbee

Here is a message about the upcoming workbee this next Sunday, June 11 from Mr. Wyatt:

Howdy all! ECA needs your help! I am looking for volunteers to help assemble a 100 ft retaining wall on Sunday June 11 from 9:00am-12:00pm behind the ECA gymnasium. Water, drinks and snacks will be provided. We also have some chainsaw work and tractor work moving soil for those who feel the need to use their outdoor toys. Thank you! Wyatt Johnston, ECA Ag instructor

ECA Library Books

Now is the time to check those bedrooms, closets, backpacks, backseats, and hidden locations for books checked out from our school library. Mrs. Hager will be working to get books checked in, catalogued, and ready for next year. Books that are missing and not returned will be charged a replacement fee on families’ final monthly statement. Please check with your child to make sure everything is turned in.

8th Grade Graduation is Coming Up!

Plan now to attend our 8th grade class graduation at the Pleasant Hill SDA Church on Thursday, June 8. The program will begin at 7:00 with a reception happening on the church lawn afterwards. It is always fun to recognize the accomplishments of students and for middle school students, this is an important moment.

8th Grade Graduation Practice

8th grade students will be practicing Wednesday and Thursday afternoon for their program. Please plan on being ready to work together to make this Thursday a wonderful evening for everyone.

Classroom Cleaning / Parties

This Thursday, most classes will be cleaned in the afternoon. Students can prepare to take any personal items home by bringing a backpack or bag. During this time, desks and lockers are cleaned out. Materials are collected. Books and computers are returned. This also gets student classrooms ready for the next day, our 1/2 day Friday, awards chapel, and late morning classroom parties.

Friday, June 9 - Last Day of School

Our last day of school will be on Friday, June 9. This day begins with an all-school chapel. End-of-the-year awards are presented to students during this time. We are blessed to have an endowment fund that provides funds every year for scholarships. We are excited to recognize the achievements and accomplishments of our students. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.

We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.

These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.

In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
