Growing Towards the Light

At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.

Principal’s Message:

Hello ECA families,

This beautiful weekend was a reminder that sunny days are coming. Teaching biology to high school students, we studied different factors that contributed to a seed’s germination. Temperature and moisture are two key factors.

How many times have I warmed myself by the warmth of a fireplace? How jealous do I get when I see my two cats basking in the morning sunlight as I get ready to go off to work for the day? We know we need sunlight for our bodies to make vitamin D. Energy from the sun supplies our Earth with the energy for all life to exist.

I thank God daily that we can receive his strength in our daily lives through his son. Jesus reminds us about the connection between the son and the sun. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Reminder - MAP Testing This Week

This week ECA will be having standardized testing on Monday-Wednesday mornings. You can help your child do well with a good night’s rest, a good breakfast, and a readiness to come to school and start testing around 9:00.

Teachers will not be assigning extra homework this week, but it is important for students to stay caught up with their daily work. This is our final MAP testing session of this year, and we will be setting up P/T conferences soon to share results and work with you as parents as we plan for summer practice and areas to grow.

Middle School Students & Community Service
We have such great students at ECA. While a few students were sleeping in, playing with friends, reading a book, or enjoying a day of no school, several students in our middle grades spent Friday helping the Oregon Pathfinders set up for the North America Bible Challenge hosted here in Eugene. Over 600 students from all over North America participated in this final event.

Additionally, we had several students in the 5-8 grades music program share special music with the Springfield SDA Church this last Sabbath. Thank you Mr. Roca and middle school students for your hard work, preparation, and inspirational music.

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.

We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.

These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.

In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
