Remembering May Day
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
Principal’s Message:
Hello ECA families,
There are certain traditions and memories we tend to nurture in our children. Growing up as a child, my family had to wait until Christmas morning to open presents. My wife’s family had a different tradition; they could select one gift to open on Christmas Eve. Was dessert a daily or weekly occurrence in your family? Did Mother’s Day always have breakfast prepared by you or your siblings? What about wishbones on Thanksgiving? Did you always have family get togethers on Easter Sunday or another special time in the year?
The history of May Day and a paper basket of flowers secretly delivered to neighbors reminds me of simpler and kinder times. As we try to filter the news and headlines for our children, my hope and prayer is we can find encouragement and strength in the simple message of Jesus as he shared the greatest commandment of all with believers, but then challenged us to extend that idea of love to those around us.
“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” - Matthew 22:37-39
MAP Testing Makeups Tomorrow and Tuesday
There were a few students who did not finish testing last week. These students will be making up the tests at school on Monday or Tuesday.
Teachers have started to look at test results and we are finalizing the dates for the last weeks of the school calendar this week. We will have those P/T conference dates finalized soon. Thank you for your patience. Our goal as we move past two years of Covid uncertainty will be to have a finalized calendar for families when the new school year begins.
ECA and May Day Baskets
Tomorrow, students in grades K-8 will be getting in big & little brother/sister groups to prepare May Day baskets for our neighbors on Zephyr Way. Tomorrow will be a bit wet, so be sure to have students wear a rain jacket. We have 33 families that we call neighbors and we will be delivering potted flowers and an ECA card.
ECA Spring Music Program Date
Our Spring music program will be on Thursday, May 26. Mr. Roca has been working with the students and we are excited to share their gift of music with our community. More information will be shared as the date gets closer, but plan on students arriving at 6:30 and a program to start at 7:00.
ECA Yearly Constituency Meeting
Our school is supported by 6 local constituent churches. Representatives from these churches make up our school board. Once a year, we have a yearly meeting aside from our monthly school boards to share information about the past year, and present our plans for the coming year. This meeting will take place on Thursday, May 19. It will be held in the ECA gym at 7:30. All families are invited to attend.
ECA Outdoor School for Grades 6&7
Students in grades 6&7 will be able to participate in an Outdoor School program sponsored by Mr. Gaylor & Mrs. Thorp. It will be held at ECA from Friday, June 20 - Sunday, June 22. We are finalizing the program, but plan now for your grade 6&7 child to be part of a fun weekend filled with tents, campfires, team-building activities, physics presentations on flight, field trips, food and more. There is no additional cost for this program. More details will be sent out as they are finalized.

We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
