Teamwork to Make the Dream Work

Principal’s Message:

Hello ECA families,

There have been signs of the Super Bowl everywhere in the past few weeks. Maybe you have watched it for the commercials. Maybe you have a favorite team you are cheering on. No matter the reason, you can’t help but appreciate the hard work and dedication teams must have to reach such a high level of success.

Our Friendzy theme for this month has been “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.” I’m incredibly blessed to work with an amazing staff and to be supported by amazing families. Together, we are making amazing things happen. Recognizing the talents and strengths of others around us makes us a better person. Partnering with the Creator of the Universe guarantees we will be on the winning team.

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.” - 2 Corinthians 2:14

Supporting Our Community last Friday

Students in grades K-4 created over 100 Valentine’s Day cards that were delivered to the Springfield Police Department. Police officers will be delivering valentines to residents in nursing homes in the city of Springfield. Thank you Home & School for setting this up for ECA!

Winter Fundraiser Ends this Week

Our January fundraiser is coming to an end this week. Please send your seed order packets with checks made out to Emerald Christian Academy. We need to place the order this week, so please send the completed form to school with your child by this Wednesday.

Just a reminder that seed packets that sell for $3-$4 can help us in a big way. We receive 45% of all purchases. If you have garden beds, flower beds, or have families or friends who routinely buy seeds for the upcoming spring, this is a great way to support our school.

Raised funds will go towards our Worthy Student Fund. If you would like to be a part of this mission, any checks for seed packets need to be made out to Emerald Christian Academy. The school will order the seeds and they will be delivered during the last week of February. To receive this financial aid, we can only order seeds from the school order form. You can find the available seed packets by following the following link: Seed Packets Order Form

Covid Policies in the News

Thank you for remembering to keep masks over noses and mouths while indoors at school. I know there has been a lot of news about masking requirements in Oregon after March 31. As we get closer to that date, our school will work with our local health care professionals on our ECA Covid Committee to make a an updated policy. This updated policy will be presented to our school board in March for approval and will then be shared with families.. Thank you for continuing to support school and community health.

Our school has also started working with the University of Oregon with an in-home saliva Covid test. This weekly testing program is available to your child and is free of charge. If you would like more information or would like to participate, call the school office and we will get information to you.

BLOOD DRIVE

We are starting to get the important details about our blood drive with Red Cross. Because of Covid, our school will need to push the date later into the spring for an onsite blood drive. However, you can still donate blood during these winter months. Bloodworks Northwest Eugene Donor Center can handle smaller in-person donations right now. Their phone number is 541-484-9111.

We are still working with them to have a “virtual ECA blood drive” in late February. Adults can donate blood at the Eugene location at 2211 Willamette Street. Bloodworks will keep track of donors for our school. More information will be coming soon.

Report Cards for the 2nd Quarter

All families should have received report cards for the second quarter. If you have not received yours yet, please call the office so we can get that to you. P/T conferences will take place in April after our third quarter has ended.

2:22:22 on 2/22/22

Our Home & School Leaders support our school in wonderful ways. Thank you for sharing treats with the students last week at the end of testing. February 22, 2022 will definitely be a special day as we celebrate a unique day on the calendar. Our Home and School leaders came up with a fun way to celebrate. Plan on showing your school spirit in unusual ways on this unusual day.

Standards-Based Learning at ECA

Our school is in a 4-year process to completely adopt SBL learning. There are several components that our teaching staff are working towards developing at school. This week, I will be gone at a conference in Texas to help our school grow and will return next week. I’m excited to bring back a wealth of resources to help your child maximize their individual potential as we focus on critical thinking & problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity and innovation.

If you need to reach me for any reason, you can send an email to principal@emeraldchristianacademy.com. I will be available to check emails in the evenings.
