Remembering Community Veterans
Principal’s Message:
Hello ECA families,
The month of November is a time when I reflect on all that I have to be thankful for. Perhaps many of you do the same thing. For our November chapel this past Friday, ECA wanted to connect with our community churches and thank the many veterans who served. For that service, our school is thankful.
I know that many parents of our students are veterans too. Although our outreach with cards was focused on church members in our local constituent churches, we want all of our school family heroes to know we thank you for your dedication and service. Thank you veterans!
Students watched three short videos that explained a bit about the history of Veteran’s Day, what it means to be a veteran, and testimonials from veterans about their service and the country they defended. If you would like to watch them, the links are below. Each video is about 3 minutes long.
Grades 7&8 PE
Students in grades 7&8 will start dressing down into appropriate PE attire before class begins. This can include PE shorts or sweats, t-shirt, and appropriate PE shoes. Students will have time to dress back into school clothing after PE class. Please send appropriate clothing.
ECA celebrates Thanksgiving
For several years, ECA has sponsored a Thanksgiving potluck, inviting all families and church members to share a lunch on our last day of school before Thanksgiving vacation. Covid and online instruction interrupted that tradition last year.
Currently, we still need to be aware of safety concerns for Covid and our kitchen remodel is still underway. With these things in mind, we will have a modified Thanksgiving celebration. ECA is planning on providing pumpkin pie, juice, and popcorn during lunch on Wednesday, November 24. Big brother / sister groups will eat together. We will be watching “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” during the meal.
Parents, if you would like to join us as a school and come a little early for the 1/2 day pickup, we plan on starting the Thanksgiving celebration at 11:30. We would like to plan for participants, so if you would like to come and join us, please contact the office so we can be prepared.
What About Cold Symptoms? Does My Child Need to Stay Home? Is it Covid?
Our school follows guidelines posted and updated by the Oregon Health Authority. By following the link below, you can find more information that the school uses. Pay special attention to pages 4,5 and 7,8.

Staying Covid Safe
With classes and children back in session, it is important for us all to do our part to keep our campus clean and safe. Despite our best practices, students still may be exposed to the Covid virus in the community. Our school has access to the Oregon K-12 Screening Testing Program. This program provides screening to students. Click on the link below to find out more about how ECA can help your family if you find yourself in this situation.
