Parent / Teacher Conferences
Principal’s Message:
Hello ECA families,
Some of my favorite, recent, summer memories have been time that I have been able to spend with students at an NPUC-sponsored dinosaur dig in New Castle, Wyoming. Finding fossils of animals that lived before the flood is amazing. It is something that the NPUC has teamed up with Southwestern SDA University.
We work beside professors, teachers, students, and groups from all over the world. Being out in the field working a digsite, we learn to trust each other. The supervisors are there to help us with our techniques, identification, and they also have an important job. With radios in hand, they keep an eye out for storms that are approaching. Severe thunder and lightning storms can move in quickly. Southwestern has been working with educators, students, and volunteers for over 20 years. Their teamwork with communities throughout the northwest have unearthed amazing finds.
As teachers, we try to do the same thing with families. During this P/T conference week, we are excited to team up and discover ways we can help your child learn. Thanks for all you do and supporting us as we make plans together for the coming year.
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” - Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10

P/T Conferences
P/T Conferences are this week. Teachers have scheduled blocks of time all-day Thursday, November 11, and in the afternoon on Friday, November 12.. If these times do not work for you, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
It is important to call the office to schedule a time before Thursday. Phone calls made this Thursday may not be answered and there will be no guarantees for scheduling an appointment. Please call after 11:30 M-W to schedule a 20 minute meeting with your child’s teacher or teachers.
Students in grades 5-8 will have paired conferences with Mrs. Thorp and Ms. Lidia together.

Darker Days & Earlier Sunsets
Now that we have followed the words of “fall back, spring forward” our days will be getting darker after school. There will still be activities planned for after-school that take place outside. Please start planning for these colder, darker days with warm clothes and jackets. Thanks!
ECA Picture Day - You Can Still Place an Order
Last week was our ECA picture day. If you were unable to place an order and would still like to do that, you can contact JT Studies at 1-877-334-2558 or go to JTStudios.com.

ECA Fall Book Sale
All this week, ECA will be hosting a Scholastic book sale in our library. Last year, with families’ generous support, we raised close to $1800. Our school receives 50% of all sales.
The book fair hours are from 3:30-5:20 Monday-Wednesday. The hours are 1:00-4:00 on Thursday and Friday. If you would like to check it out, you can do it after school during pickup times, or before or after P/T conferences on Thursday and Friday. Thank you Cali Dunks for organizing and volunteering your time to supervise the school fair during sale times.
Because of the book fair this week, the library will not be used in the afternoons or for afterschool programs this week. It will still be used for students in grades 1-4 for morning worship.
1/2 Day Friday this Week
We will be having school Monday through Wednesday. There will be no school on Thursday. We will return to school for a 1/2 day this Friday. Our school is honoring veterans in our local constituent churches by doing small projects that will be sent to the supporting churches for their members who have served in the armed forces.
Hot Lunch Friday
This Friday we will be having hot lunch. Home and school has arranged volunteers to provide hot lunch on 1/2 day Fridays.
$5 - Cheese pizza, veggies, drink, and dessert.
Call the office by Thursday. Pay with cash, check or CC on file.
Well Water Report
Our Well water was serviced this summer. It has been within safety levels all school year. Because there were a few days in the past 6 months that our pH levels were off, we are required to past an advisory. Click on the link below for the advisory.
What About Cold Symptoms? Does My Child Need to Stay Home? Is it Covid?
Our school follows guidelines posted and updated by the Oregon Health Authority. By following the link below, you can find more information that the school uses. Pay special attention to pages 4,5 and 7,8.
Cold vs. Covid - What are the Symptoms?
Staying Covid Safe
With classes and children back in session, it is important for us all to do our part to keep our campus clean and safe. Despite our best practices, students still may be exposed to the Covid virus in the community. Our school has access to the Oregon K-12 Screening Testing Program. This program provides screening to students. Click on the link below to find out more about how ECA can help your family if you find yourself in this situation.
