Going Into Our 1st Quarter Final Week

Principal’s Message:

Hello ECA families,

If you are like most families, or at least mine, somewhere in your home you have a measure of your child’s growth. Perhaps it is an etching alongside a bookshelf. Maybe it is a chart on a closet door. Maybe you have a plaster mold of your child’s hand from another time.

Schools are about growth. As we come to the end of this first quarter, I’m so glad we see growth that goes beyond the ABCs of learning. Growing closer to God and learning how to follow his lead is a growth mindset we are excited to share.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” - Colossians 2:6,7

Last Week of the 1st Quarter

As we start this last week, it is helpful to think about the successful moments we have had. It is also helpful to make a goal to move us in a direction that helps us grow. Growth comes when we do difficult things. Learning to overcome difficult obstacles with small manageable steps is something ECA is excited to help your family with. We look forward to our first P/T conferences in the second week of November.

P/T Conferences

ECA will be having Parent/Teacher conferences during the second week of November. There will be NO SCHOOL on Veterans’ Day, but there will be a 1/2 day Friday the next day. As a staff we are finalizing best times to meet with you. We are working to schedule times that work with the flexibility of after-school activities, Veterans’ Day, and a 1/2 day Friday.

Teachers will be putting together a schedule of available times. After-school hours that do not interfere with after-school programs, Veterans’ Day, and Friday afternoons are all times that will be available. Families can start signing up for scheduled meeting times beginning next week. Students in Kindergarten may find scheduled meetings include both Mrs. McNulty and Mrs. Hager. Students in grades 5-8 will be having meetings with Mrs. Thorp and Ms. Sobor at the same time.

ECA Picture Day

Next Monday, November 1, we will be having our ECA picture day at school. More information will be going home this week about picture packets, prices, and ordering. We will also be taking pictures for our ECA school mugbook. This directory will be handed out hopefully at P/T conferences.

Staying Healthy in the Season of Colds, Covid, and the Flu

Colder weather and colds in general seem to have made their way into our school. Getting lots of rest, eating regular balanced meals, and getting exercise are all ways we can put our best foot forward going into this cold season.

Warm clothing, appropriate for the rainy season is helpful in fighting the seasonal colds too. Thank you for helping your child recognize the importance of wearing the right clothing for our ever-changing weather.

As a school, we continue to ask that students maintain 3 feet distancing with masks indoors and 6 feet outdoors without masks. We are currently going through boxes and boxes of masks weekly. Parents, please help keep our school safe, and regularly send masks with your child. This small step can help us keep our costs down. Thanks.

What About Cold Symptoms? Does My Child Need to Stay Home? Is it Covid?

Our school follows guidelines posted and updated by the Oregon Health Authority. By following the link below, you can find more information that the school uses. Pay special attention to pages 4,5 and 7,8.

Cold vs. Covid - What are the Symptoms?

Staying Covid Safe

With classes and children back in session, it is important for us all to do our part to keep our campus clean and safe. Despite our best practices, students still may be exposed to the Covid virus in the community. Our school has access to the Oregon K-12 Screening Testing Program. This program provides screening to students. Click on the link below to find out more about how ECA can help your family if you find yourself in this situation.

Our school can also provide diagnostic testing. Here is the link for more information.
