It’s Time to Get Together Again…
September 11, 2022
Hello ECA families,
If you have ever been to a family reunion, you know the excitement of reconnecting with loved ones and making new acquaintances. For me, it was an annual summer event during my younger years. I have family in the town of Leavenworth, WA. All of the grown-ups would get together and share memories and laughs. For us kids, it was a fun time to play together and think about being another year older, faster, and stronger. It meant horseback riding, swimming, and staying up until the late hours. Before the days of computers, internet, and free long-distance, it was a special time.
Last Friday ECA had our own family reunion. We had our first community 1/2 day Friday. We learned more about the big brother/sister program and paired up into partners and community groups. It was also a time to have our annual school handshake to get the year started. We are excited to start making new memories and look forward to many opportunities to connect together with our community.

Back-to-School Night Paperwork
Thank you to the many families who made it to our Back-to-School Night last Thursday. If you took any paperwork home that needs to be returned to school, you can send it with your child and they can give it to their classroom teacher. Paperwork might include the ECA Computer Usage Policy that needs to be signed and returned or possibly paperwork needed by the office. Also, if you still need to make additions for family and friends picking up your child, please get that information to the front office. If you took home paperwork for volunteering at ECA, we encourage you to start the process and follow the steps on the letter and forms that need to be emailed to our conference office. If you have any questions about proof of Covid vaccination or an exemption letter, please call the school or if you have any other questions, just call the office.
Upcoming Events at School
This week, there will be a couple things happening to take note of:
Monday, September 12 is our first ASB grades 5-8 trip to the beach. We will be taking the ECA school bus. We will be leaving school at 8:30 in the morning and returning around 4:45. There is no additional charge for this trip, but you might want to send along some spending money for students to have for Old Town Florence. We will be arriving in Old Town Florence around 10:15 and plan on staying there for a little over an hour. We will then hop back on the bus and drive to Honeyman State Park. We will play on the dunes and splash around in the water. Plan on sending a lunch that has NO microwavable items, a towel to dry off, and possibly a change of clothes. We ask that any swimming attire be modest (No two-piece swim suits please). Since we will be out in the hot sun, plan on sending a water bottle for students.
Home & School will be having their first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 14. It will be at 7:00 in the evening in the ECA library. All parents who are curious about home and school and ways they can help support our school are invited.
If you are still needing to finalize your family financial plans, please contact Cali in our office. Our office hours this year are slightly different than last year.
Cali Dunks, Business Manager - T-Th, 8:00-12:00
Cammie Johnston, Adm. Assistant - M-Th, 11:45-4:15
1/2 Day Friday hours - Cammie Johnston, 8:00-12:45
Parents, if you have not signed up for the monthly after-school program and you would like your child to participate in an after-school program for a particular day, please be sure to call the office on Monday for the week. There is a $5 per family per day charge. Parents who have paid for the monthly plan (all days M-Th for only $50 per family) do not need to call.

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
