Excited About School Events

Principal’s Message:

Hello ECA families,

I remember my first year of teaching and more importantly, I remember the night before my first day. I was excited for a new beginning, one that I had worked long and hard towards. I was hired three days before the first day of classes and there was a lot to do to get ready.

Almost 30 years later, I enjoy that excitement every fall. Now that our first month of school is almost over, we have so many things to be excited about. I hope that God will fill you with that excitement about a new school year and a new beginning that can start daily with him.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5-6

ASB Beach Trip

Our students in grades 5-8 had a beautiful day at the beach last week. The ASB Beach Trip to Florence has been a tradition at ECA for countless years. Helping students make sense of a Covid year with safe, “normal” activities is something we can get excited about.

Attached, you will find a flyer for our annual Fall Festival. Just like the ASB Beach Trip is an ECA tradition, our Fall Festival has been part of our school for countless years too. We will be focused on local school families this year. With Covid 19 having an impact on communities, we have been working with Home & School & ECA volunteers to have a safe and fun time for all this Sunday.

Would you like to have an opportunity to share a pie with a principal (as in a chance to aim for a pie in the face?) Students who bring in pie orders for at least 5 pies will get one throw. 10 or more orders get 2 throws. The top seller will get three throws.

We are in our last week of our Fall fundraiser. We are working with the Willamette Valley Pie Company to order pies for the coming holidays. If you have not had a chance to look at the information about the Willamette Valley Pie Company, I have attached a link to the three documents that explain more about the program. Here are the highlights, but please look at the three attachments for more details.

  • Our pie Fall fundraiser will be for one more week. Thank you Home & School for organizing this fundraiser.

  • Proceeds for this year’s pie fundraiser will go towards our PE department. Our PE program, PE staff, and PE supplies are supported by your generous support.

  • All orders need to be received by September 29, 2021.

  • Please drop your orders and payment for pies at the school office when you come to pick up your child in the afternoon.

  • All pies will be delivered in the afternoon of October 19, 2021. These homemade pies will be delivered frozen, but need to be picked up. Our school does not have the freezer space to store the delivered pies.

  • Click on the links below for the three documents for ordering information and prices.

With classes and children back in session, it is important for us all to do our part to keep our campus clean and safe. Despite our best practices, students still may be exposed to the Covid virus in the community. Our school has access to the Oregon K-12 Screening Testing Program. This program provides screening to students. Click on the link below to find out more about how ECA can help your family if you find yourself in this situation.

Our school can also provide diagnostic testing. Here is the link for more information.
