RoadRunner Review: Pumpkins, Caterpillars, and Cats
Principal’s Message:
On my drive to school every morning there is a garden that has a substantial pumpkin patch. The tiny little orange orbs have now expanded to very large healthy looking pumpkins. Just seeing the pumpkins growing makes everything feel cozier. I’m ready for sweaters, warm cider, and crunchy fall leaves. Our in-person students have gone from picking blackberries at the back of the school to finding tiny black and orange caterpillars scooting around campus.
Although we have not had consistency from week to week, we are well into our school year and hoping that some of the traditions of fall bring some excitement and fun for our ECA families. Our week of testing concluded with an Enrichment Friday that was quite interesting! Students had the chance to zoom in with the Lead Cheetah/Carnivore Keeper at Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. Carissa Clendenon introduced us to several cheetahs and a few of the tigers in residence. We did record the meeting, so if you missed it, feel free to email me and I will send you a copy of the recording! Thank you so much Carissa!
I’m glad that our Creator saw fit to create black stripes on orange tigers, and gargantuan pumpkins and little fuzzy caterpillars. I hope that you have the time to see the small and big ways that we have a front seat to God’s beautiful gifts all around us in nature.
Announcements:
All our ECA Students are caught up on their MAP tests and we are so proud of their hard work!
PIE Fundraiser!! Our highest seller was 1st grader Rylinn—so proud of you for working hard! Rylinn decided that instead of a pie-eating contest with our staff winner, Mr. Crawford, she would like to smash a pie in his face…we agree, that would be way fun! Stay tuned for when this is going to go down!
Online Co-Op Families we would LOVE to see what you are working on—please send pictures for our website and for the yearbook staff!
HUGE Thank you to Home and School for arranging the Pie Fundraiser. Special Thank you to Mrs. Littman for coordinating the fundraiser and putting together all the details. Another thank you to Mrs. Fischer for coordinating snacks during test weeks—we loved them!!
Covid-19:
ECA’s Covid Advisory Team met this week to look over state and county guidelines and decide the best ways to support our families, staff and students. At present, we are continuing with our Comprehensive Distance Learning with limited in-person instruction knowing that we will be revisiting this plan at the end of first quarter. We are looking at ways to simplify our symptoms process and give parents clearer guidance regarding steps to take with symptoms. More to come as we explore options. Questions, concerns, ideas? Please email office@emeraldchristianacademy.com with the subject—Covid Advisory Team.
Enrichment Friday Photos:
Carissa Clendenon did a marvelous job talking to the kids about Cheetahs, Tigers, and how they are taken care of at Wildlife Safari. We also learned a lot about what we can do to protect wild cats and other animals whose habitats are damaged by deforestation. Carissa suggested that we check out this website to learn more about how we can reduce our Palm Oil use, or make sure products we use are from sustainable sources to reduce the harm to animals dependent on the forests where Palm Oil is harvested.
