Books, Books, Books!
Principal’s Message:
I have a hard time saying no to books. I will sacrifice groceries to buy books. I absolutely LOVE when learner’s start enjoying reading—whether it is a comic book, magazine, novel, historical non-fiction, science book—it’s really, really fun to see a learner find a book that has something that exciting for them.
This next two weeks we are hitting our read-a-thon hard, silent reading time in class, out-loud reading time, reader’s theatre—all of it counts towards your student’s total minutes of reading! We would LOVE for our families to jump on the reading express—maybe you can incorporate family reading time, read a book together, listen to a book on tape during your drive…the possibilities are endless!
Share your learner’s reading website with friends, families, co-workers…let’s get everyone on board cheering for our learners! Whether they support by donating $5 or sending your learner a book, or facetiming with them and listening to them read—help make this next two weeks an immersive reading experience for your learner!

Announcements:
Read-a-thon!
Our 2021 Read-a-thon is underway. Your child should have received a form that gives instructions for creating their personal Read-a-thon website. Make sure and spread your learner’s website far and wide for supporting our fundraising efforts for our Worthy Student Fund! This fund allows us to provide financial aid for families needing support. In addition we will contribute a percentage of our total amount raised to each classroom!ASB Snow-Day
Our 5th-8th graders will have the opportunity to participate in a snow day on February 25. This is considered a school day! Private transportation needs to be arranged. If your learner is not interested in being at HooDoo Ski Area for the day we will have non-academic opportunities available for them on campus. Online Co-Op students are welcome to join in on Snow Day at HooDoo (have their own snow day at a location closer to them OR come up with an project for that day that is approved by their classroom teacher).BIG FRANKS!!!
We had a donor drop off two cases of Big Franks (veggie hot dogs) for our school. We thought it would be fun to do a Big Frank drawing weekly! Please send in a picture of your learner that showcases the beauty of OREGON this week and we will enter you in a drawing for two cans of Big Franks!! Our co-op families are encouraged to participate as well! Send pictures to principal@emeraldchristianacademy.com by February 10, 2021Walkabout
Childcare:
Few reminders:
Childcare is available until 4:00 pm.
Our current cohort situation requires us to keep our younger and older grades separate. We have designated rooms in the library on days when we are indoors and when they are outside it is easier to provide for this spacing.
Our childcare schedule is as follows:
Mondays: Mr. Crawford
Tuesdays: Mrs. Hager
Wednesdays and Thursdays: Mr. Gaylor
Please pick your child up from the green library door.
If at all possible-please call us by noon day-off for last minute childcare arrangements.
Covid-19:
If you are part of our ECA community we ask that you follow recommended guidelines: Masking, Physical Distancing, any further risk reduction measures that you are able to incorporate into your lives. Do your part in protecting our on-campus care.
Are you unsure about your child’s symptoms? Do you want some guidance on whether they should be at school or stay home or get a Covid test? Call Lane County’s Non-Emergency Call Center line for Covid-19 at 541-682-1380
