Getting Ready for a New Year

Principal’s Message:

Hello ECA families,

I hope all of you have been able to start enjoying some well-deserved “care-free” days of summer. At school, we are working on several things to make next year a fun and exciting year.

  • Curriculum Planning

  • Longer and Expanded After-School Program

  • ECA Beautification Project Work

  • Classroom Preparations

  • Programs that work with our area churches

I wanted to let all of you know how grateful I am for the leadership, organization, and preparation that Nelita Crawford provided for our school over the past two years. We thank her for her dedication and send wishes for a bright future.

Oregon is moving towards a post-Covid world with many mandates removed. Here at ECA, safety for your children and family is a top priority. In the coming weeks, I will be meeting with our Covid Action Committee to look at next year, and policies to keep your children safe.

In addition to some of the changes mentioned above, our school will be changing how we do our enrollment process for this coming year. Our school is part of an organization of SDA schools all across the country. Training for this new system will begin in early July, so our older system will no longer work. I understand how this might cause some confusion and I will share more information as it becomes available.

One way for me to communicate better with families is to reach out and have a conversation. Following the July 4 holiday weekend, I will begin calling families. I want to give you a chance to ask me any questions about next year, and also share some of the exciting ways ECA can serve your family. Please reach out to me at principal@emeraldchristianacademy.com if there are any days or times that would work best for your family.

For many of you, I have had the privilege to serve your family as a teacher here at ECA. As I start my new role as teaching principal, I’m excited to continue my work with a wonderful community of staff, families, and churches to share God’s love for his children.

  • Few things we want you to know about Enrollment:

    • We are pushing for 65 students in our K-8 classes next year! Here’s how you can help us out—any family that you refer to ECA that completes the enrollment process will earn ONE learner in your family the opportunity to have their enrollment fee waived!
