Fortnight
Principal’s Message:
A fortnight used to mean “two weeks.” As in—It is but a fortnight until summer vacation. I’m entirely sure if you ask one of our students what fortnight means they will reference a video game (I’m not sure what this game is or what happens—I just know there are silly dances associated with it).
Ultimately language shifts, moves and bends as it trickles down through the generations. What used to be no big deal is now horrendous to say out loud, what used to be horrendous to say might be no big deal to a younger generation.
What do we do with this ever-changing dynamic?
What if we learned continuously from the generations behind us and the generations in front of us. It is very easy to place wisdom behind us and miss out on the burgeoning wisdom in front of us. This tension is felt not only in regards to language, but in regards to so many other minor and major areas of life. How are you holding space for those who came before while also making space for those who are setting their course now?
